Fitness 'n Me : How Fitness Contributes
to Overall Good Health
By Kristyne

Some of the latest information in the news is
stating what we have know in our guts already: exercise is the
best medication for anxiety and depression. Of course, I'm not
saying that you should throw away the meds if they've been
prescribed for a problem, but I am saying that if you're not
getting regular exercise and you're feeling down or anxious --
get out there and do something!
Steve and I have been on up and down swings
all through our adult lives with respect to fitness. At this
point in our lives, I'm 50 years old and working to get my life
and health back on track after years working in the sendentary
occupation of computer software development. Steve is 64 years
old, and working to recover as much as he can of his physical
well being with a hip replacement, knee replacement, and
intensive physical therapy.
Our new home is built on a rolling hillside
with lots of walking trails, and includes an exercise room with
a treadmill and weight bench. We are committed to improving our
own health and fitness. This site is born of that effort. Our
research into the various topics we find interesting is posted
here to share with you as well.
The overwhelming opinion of the experts is
that a moderate or better level of physical fitness contributes
significantly to any person's overall good health. For example,
a 10% weight loss for a diabetic that is overweight is known to
improve health. This holds true even for a diabetic that has
far more than 10% excess weight.
